About Team Texas Karate ASO

Team Texas Karate is the only approved sports organization for the state of Texas, this approval was granted by and is overseen by the National Karate Federation, the national governing body for both the United States Olympic Committee and the World Karate Federation (WKF).  It is our job and duty to promote competition and train athletes to the highest level,  inline with the high standards set in place by the NKF and WKF governing bodies.

Team Texas Karate ASO in partnership with the National Karate-Do Federation ensures our athletes, coaches, and officials are continually provided with the highest level of training and certification.  Our officials are continuously trained in the rules and codes of conduct and provide our competitors with the highest level of competency and fairness in competition.  Our coaches are licensed and also have a uniform code of conduct applied to them as well as safe sport certification to ensure the safety and handling of our athletes.  Our athletes are professionals as well, each devoting countless hours to their training and conducting themselves with the utmost respect at all times as required by our written code of conduct.

The Texas ASO is open to all styles, so long as they abide by the complete set of rules put in place by the National Karate-Do Federation.  You can obtain a copy of these rules by clicking the link at the bottom of this page titled NKF Rules.  The NKF and Team Texas has high standards in place and all that participate are required to abide by the rules and proper conduct.

Regional qualifiers and State Championships are held by Team Texas ASO and are required to gain the opportunity of attending the Nationals Competition hosted by The National Karate-Do Federation.  The USA junior national team is selected at the Nationals competition and there are opportunities for athletes to make Team USA.  The Adult Team USA Athletes must qualify at Nationals to attend the final team selection competition.  There are numerous opportunities for the Adult and Junior teams of competing in the World Karate Federation (WKF).

The World Karate Federation (WKF) is the largest international governing body of sport karate with over 130 member countries.[4] It was formed in 1990 and is the only karate organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee and has more than ten million members.[5][6][7] The WKF organizes the Junior and Senior Karate World Championships, which are each held every other year. The President of the WKF is Antonio Espinos, and the headquarters are located in Madrid, Spain.[8] The styles recognized by the WKF are Gōjū-ryū, Shitō-ryū, Shotokan, and Wadō-ryū.  All styles may compete though, provided they are following currently recognized rules by the WKF.

There is not another organization that can compare to the true state, national, and World level competition the NKF, WKF, and Team Texas official events bring to the table.
